Indie roots artist Nellen Dryden writes songs influenced by her R&B, folk, gospel and country music upbringing. Frequently backed by collaborator and pedal steel/guitar player, Jules Belmont, together they bring a cosmic, soulful sound to their listener's ear. A native of the greater New York City, she now makes home in Nashville, Tennessee.
Recent Interview on The Vinyl Lunch at Acme Radio in Nashville.
"When Jules Belmont's translucent dreamy pedal steel notes float in at the beginning of Funny Feelings you are instantly floating along and then when Nellen Dryden's earthy heartfelt vocals slide in the seduction is complete. It feels like a midnight slow dance, maybe a heartbroken one."- American Pancake
" While Dryden has always had a scorching voice, with this collection Dryden more than proves herself as a songwriter." - The Bedrock Beat
"Little Stray Heart is an exceptional album. Dryden puts just the right amount of emotion in these songs and knows when levity is needed...as the album progresses she continues to inject just enough diversity into each song." - No More Division/Ted Rogan
"Dryden has released a passionate debut album... a nice mix of tempos and moods. We have some upbeat, country songs that feel like a throwback to early days, some that veer a little more into Americana, and some beautiful, soft heartbreakers... her vibe feels like she’s comfortable on the porch of a cabin up in the Appalachian Mountains. The music feels pure and honest, as if it’s a part of those country mountains and Nellen is sharing the story."- Sound Waves Review
"...an alt-country earworm.."- Middle Tennessee Music
Little Stray Heart will also be used in the upcoming feature-indie film, " My Cricket in Me," which features Willie Nelson.
